Helicon Defined
"Art works are the principal recorded sources of mankind's conscious awareness." – Albert Fuller
Insightful Programs, Historically Informed, Intimate Space
Founded by harpsichordist Albert Fuller in 1985, Helicon's mission is to enrich the understanding of music's role in Western culture by presenting the finest chamber music programs enhanced by a historically informed context.
Helicon pursues this goal by presenting insightful programs presented in an intimate setting, developing committed groups of musicians and audience members, and exploring historical interpretive techniques and instruments.
Helicon's audience is made up of Members who support Helicon with annual tax-deductible contributions. This unique membership structure allows the organization to cultivate an international scope, while keeping the scale intimate.
Now led by Artistic Director, James Roe, Helicon Members and musicians come together four times a season for Symposiums, concert experiences enhanced by illuminating the historical and cultural context of the music. Interaction between performers and audience is a hallmark of Helicon concerts.
Our musicians and Members are drawn together by a shared desire for creative musical and artistic exploration in a lively social environment. Through creative engagement and curiosity, Helicon continues to pursue a closer and deeper experience of music in all our lives.
