About the Helicon Salon Recordings

To celebrate its 25th Anniversary, Helicon is embarking on an important chamber music recording project, The Helicon Salon Recordings. Helicon's annual series of intimate chamber music salons explores new ground in historically-informed performance with a roster of today's most interesting and penetrating chamber musicians. The Helicon Salon Recordings will bring these important performances to a wide audience.

The goal of The Helicon Salon Recordings is to release a new CD each year over the next eight years, recorded by Grammy Award winning producer Andreas Meyer.

We begin in May 2010 with the first recording of Schoenberg's romantic sextet, Verklärte Nacht ("Transfigured Night") on gut strings. Led by Dutch violin, Vera Beths, Helicon's stellar ensemble includes, Mark Steinberg, Dov Scheindlin, David Cerutti, Nina Lee, and Myron Lutzke.

Future plans for Helicon Salon Recordings include:

  • Colin Jacobsen in virtuoso violin music from the 17th Century
  • Piano Trios by Haydn and Beethoven played by Mark Steinberg, Myron Lutzke, and Pedja Muzijevic
  • Mozart Violin Sonatas played by Jennifer Frautschi and Pedja Muzijevic
  • Bach Violin Sonatas played by Mark Steinberg and harpsichordist, Ilya Poletaev
